About Me (Dr Sonia Bues)
I am an HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with full chartership status from the British Psychological Society. I obtained a Graduate Diploma in Psychology with Distinction in 2005 and a doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Oxford in 2012. I have also completed further training in dialectical behaviour therapy skills, trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy, family-based treatment for eating disorders and enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy for eating disorders. I have experience of running workshops and training and is a guest lecturer at the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology.
I have been working in the NHS since 2006 and I am currently a consultant clinical psychologist in a Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). I have extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families, gained across both community and inpatient settings as well as in specialist services. I have a special interest in working with eating difficulties and trauma, but I have knowledge and experience of working with all kinds of mental health difficulties.
I am registered with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) and I am a chartered member of the BPS (British Psychological Society), both of which are professional bodies that require their registrants to abide by strict professional codes of conduct and ethics. I hold an enhanced DBS check (previously CRB check) and has professional liability insurance. I seek regular supervision of all of my clinical work and am committed to continued professional development and to constantly updating my clinical skills.
